Combos Of The Week: Week 38 Virtual Padwork Online Boxing Series
Welcome to the thirty-eighth instalment of Combos Of The Week. This series is a complete recap of the Virtual Padwork library I built in 2023.
If you are looking for a structured way to learn about online boxing, this series will serve as a reference guide. Instead of hunting through a social media feed, you can find the technical sequences right here, grouped by week, to study in your own time.
Combo 260: The Khan
Stance: Orthodox
Inspired by Amir Khan’s blistering hand speed and high-low flurries. This sequence starts with a head jab and lead hook to pull the guard high, before immediately digging downstairs with a double-body shot.
Combo Sequence:
Jab
Left Hook
Low Right Hook
Low Left Hook
Combo 261: 1 Block 3 Roll 3233
Stance: Southpaw
A grit-and-grind drill for the lead hand. After the jab and a block, the southpaw focuses on "the right side," firing a lead hook and rolling to reset for a heavy 3-2-3-3. This trains the lead shoulder to stay active under fatigue.
Combo Sequence:
Jab
Left Block
Right Hook
Roll Right
Right Hook
Cross
Right Hook
Right Hook
Combo 262: The Monzon
Stance: Orthodox
Inspired by Carlos Monzón’s clinical use of range. This sequence utilizes the lead hand "post" or head control to measure the opponent, firing a short uppercut, resetting with a step back, and repeating the process to land a heavy power hook.
Combo Sequence:
Head Control (Jab)
Right Uppercut
Step Back
Head Control (Jab)
Right Hook
Combo 263: Slip 5 Slip Roll 2 Step 2
Stance: Southpaw
A highly reactive drill. You slip to the outside to fire a lead uppercut, immediately slip and roll to evade the counter, and fire the cross. The final step back and cross creates the "vacuum" effect to catch a chasing opponent.
Combo Sequence:
Slip Right
Right Uppercut
Slip Right
Roll Left
Cross
Step Back
Cross
Combo 264: The Hearns
Stance: Orthodox
Inspired by Thomas "Hitman" Hearns’ devastating power from distance. This is a masterclass in deception. You use double low feints to freeze the opponent's feet and drop their hands, creating the perfect opening for the "over-the-top" right hook.
Combo Sequence:
Low Feint (Jab)
Low Feint (Jab)
Right Hook
Combo 265: 1 Step 65 Slip 3 Block 3
Stance: Southpaw
A complex pocket-fighting sequence. It integrates a "pull" (step back) into a double-uppercut counter. It emphasizes the southpaw’s ability to transition from a slip-hook into a block-hook, maintaining lead-hand dominance throughout.
Combo Sequence:
Jab
Step Back
Left Uppercut
Right Uppercut
Slip Right
Right Hook
Right Block
Right Hook
Combo 266: The Tszyu
Stance: Orthodox
Inspired by Kostya Tszyu’s precision and footwork angles. After a standard 1-2, you pivot 90 degrees to the left (9 o'clock), catching the opponent off-balance and firing a second 1-2 from an angle they cannot defend.
Combo Sequence:
Jab
Cross
Pivot Anti-Clockwise (9 O’Clock)
Jab
Cross
