Combos Of The Week: Week 41 Virtual Padwork Online Boxing Series

Welcome to the forty-first instalment of Combos Of The Week. This series is a complete recap of the Virtual Padwork library I built in 2023.

If you are looking for a structured way to learn about online boxing, this series will serve as a reference guide. Instead of hunting through a social media feed, you can find the technical sequences right here, grouped by week, to study in your own time.

Combo 281: The Hagler

Stance: Southpaw

Inspired by "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler’s legendary ability to switch stances mid-attack. You start as a southpaw with a jab, use the momentum to switch to orthodox, and immediately fire a double lead hook and cross from the new stance, catching the opponent off-guard.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Switch (to Orthodox)

  • Left Hook

  • Left Hook

  • Cross

Combo 282: The Holmes

Stance: Orthodox

Inspired by Larry Holmes’ tactical use of the lead hand. This drill focuses on "Head Control" to manipulate the opponent's posture. You use the post to frame for the rear hook, dig a low hook to the body, and reset the frame to repeat the process.

Combo 283: 14 Roll 2 Step 63

Stance: Southpaw

A tactical counter-punching drill. After a jab and rear hook (the 4), you roll to evade the counter and return fire with a cross. A step back then draws the opponent in, setting them up for a rear uppercut and lead hook.

Combo 284: 12 Block 3 Roll 11

  • Right Block

  • Left Hook

  • Roll Left

Combo 285: 1253 2164

Stance: Southpaw

A high-volume "symmetric" drill. It covers the full range of punches on both the lead and rear sides. For the southpaw, this transitions from a lead-side focus (5-3) into a rear-side focus (6-4), ensuring you are equally dangerous with both hands.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Right Uppercut

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

Combo 286: 12 Slip 2 Reverse
