Combos Of The Week: Week 42 Virtual Padwork Online Boxing Series

Welcome to the forty-second instalment of Combos Of The Week. This series is a complete recap of the Virtual Padwork library I built in 2023.

If you are looking for a structured way to learn about online boxing, this series will serve as a reference guide. Instead of hunting through a social media feed, you can find the technical sequences right here, grouped by week, to study in your own time.

Combo 288: 12 Slip 2 36 Slip 6

Stance: Orthodox

This drill focuses on rear-side dominance. By integrating slips before both the cross and the rear uppercut, you train your body to reload the power on the right side mid-combination. This is particularly effective for catching opponents who lean into the pocket.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Slip Right

  • Cross

  • Left Hook

  • Right Uppercut

  • Slip Right

  • Right Uppercut

Combo 289: 123 Block 3 Roll Roll 2323

Stance: Southpaw

A high-volume endurance and defensive drill. For the southpaw, this sequence reinforces lead-hand activity (the 3) followed by a double roll to escape pressure. It finishes with a rapid-fire "piston" flurry to capitalize on an opening.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Right Hook

  • Right Block

  • Right Hook

  • Roll Right

  • Roll Left

  • Cross

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

  • Right Hook

Combo 290: Jab Body 5 Step 23

Stance: Orthodox

A clinical level-changing sequence. The high jab and low cross force the opponent's guard to drop, creating a clear lane for the lead uppercut. The step back then resets the range, allowing for a sharp cross-hook finish.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Low Right Hook

  • Left Uppercut

  • Step Back

  • Cross

  • Left Hook

Combo 291: 125 Slip 3 216 Slip 4

Stance: Southpaw

This drill targets the "inside angles." It alternates between lead-side uppercut/hook counters and rear-side uppercut/hook counters. It is designed to make a southpaw dangerous from both sides of the opponent's guard.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Right Uppercut

  • Slip Right

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

  • Jab

  • Left Uppercut

  • Slip Left

  • Left Hook

Combo 292: 112 Slip 6 Reverse

Stance: Orthodox

A rhythm and symmetry drill focusing on the rear uppercut. You fire a standard entry into a slipped uppercut, then immediately reverse the entire sequence. This develops the ability to use the rear hand as both a power-shot and a setup tool.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Slip Right

  • Right Uppercut

  • Right Uppercut

  • Slip Right

  • Cross

  • Jab

  • Jab

Combo 293: 332 Slip 2 Slip 6

Stance: Southpaw

Doubling the lead hook (3) manipulates the guard, the slipped cross (2) punishes the center, and the final slipped rear uppercut (6) catches the opponent if they try to duck or lean away from the cross.

Combo Sequence:

  • Right Hook

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

  • Slip Left

  • Cross

  • Slip Left

  • Left Uppercut

Combo 294: Catch 23 Block Block Roll 53

Stance: Orthodox

You start by catching a jab and responding immediately with a 2-3. After weathering a return flurry with blocks and a roll, you finish with a lead-side uppercut-hook flurry.

Combo Sequence:

  • Right Catch

  • Cross

  • Left Hook

  • Left Block

  • Right Block

  • Roll Left

  • Left Uppercut

  • Left Hook
