Combos Of The Week: Week 11 Virtual Padwork Online Boxing Series

Welcome to the eleventh instalment of Combos Of The Week. This series is a complete recap of the Virtual Padwork library I built in 2023.

If you are looking for a structured way to learn about online boxing, this series will serve as a reference guide. Instead of hunting through a social media feed, you can find the technical sequences right here, grouped by week, to study in your own time.

Here is the breakdown of combos 71 to 77 from the archive.

Combo 71: The Slip Layer

Stance: Southpaw

This sequence focuses on layering head movement between offensive bursts. For the southpaw, it’s about slipping inside and outside the opponent's lead hand, ensuring you are never a stationary target while firing your cross and lead hook.

Combo Sequence:

Combo 72: Catch Catch 123

Stance: Orthodox

A clinical defensive reset. You parry a double-jab or a 1-2 with two sharp catches before immediately firing back with a classic three-punch combination. This drill reinforces the habit of answering back the moment the opponent's attack finishes.

Combo Sequence:

  • Right Catch

  • Left Catch

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Left Hook

Combo 73: The 152 Loop

Stance: Southpaw

The 1-5-2 (Jab, Lead Uppercut, Cross) is a high-percentage sequence for catching opponents leaning in. Looping this helps a southpaw fighter master the weight shift required to lift the chin with the right uppercut and follow through with the straight left.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Right Uppercut

  • Cross

  • Jab

  • Right Uppercut

Combo 74: 1 2 Slip 2 Roll

Stance: Orthodox

This drill emphasizes safety after the attack. You fire the 1-2, slip the return, fire the cross again, and then roll to a new angle. It’s a sequence designed to keep you offensive while remaining impossible to pin down.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Slip Right

  • Cross

  • Roll Right

Combo 75: Elbow 632 Elbow 523

Stance: Southpaw

Adapted for the southpaw stance, this drill utilizes the "Elbow Tuck" to defend against body attacks on the inside. By using your arms as a shield, you stay in the pocket and create immediate openings for your own uppercuts and hooks.

Combo Sequence:

  • Left Elbow Tuck

  • Left Uppercut

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

  • Right Elbow Tuck

  • Right Uppercut

  • Cross

  • Right Hook

Combo 76: 643 532

Stance: Orthodox

This is a powerful "close-range" sequence. It moves through heavy hooks and uppercuts, focusing on the fluidity of your hips as you switch from right-side power to left-side speed.

Combo Sequence:

  • Right Uppercut

  • Right Hook

  • Left Hook

  • Left Uppercut

  • Left Hook

  • Cross

Combo 77: The Holyfield

Stance: Southpaw

The southpaw version of the Holyfield distance trap. By using the "skip back" and the "look," you disrupt the opponent's timing and tempt them to lung forward, leaving them wide open for the straight left cross.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Skip Back

  • Look

  • Jab (or Feint Jab)

  • Skip Back

  • Cross

Closing Thoughts

This project began as a 365-day commitment to creating a free, dependable resource for boxing enthusiasts worldwide. By stripping away spoken instruction and focusing on the raw mechanics of the combinations, these sequences are designed to be a universal language. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced boxer, these archives stand as a testament to the discipline of the craft—a library of inspiration that remains accessible to anyone with a passion for boxing.
