Combos Of The Week: Week 12 Virtual Padwork Online Boxing Series

Welcome to the twelfth instalment of Combos Of The Week. This series is a complete recap of the Virtual Padwork library I built in 2023.

If you are looking for a structured way to learn about online boxing, this series will serve as a reference guide. Instead of hunting through a social media feed, you can find the technical sequences right here, grouped by week, to study in your own time.

Combo 78: 84 73

Stance: Orthodox

This drill focuses on the "High-Low" transition. By doubling up on each side—starting with a body shot before immediately returning to the head—you teach yourself to shift weight vertically without losing balance.

Combo Sequence:

  • Low Right Hook

  • Right Hook

  • Low Left Hook

  • Left Hook

Combo 79: The Toney

Stance: Southpaw

Inspired by the elusive "Lights Out" James Toney. This sequence uses the lead hand to keep the opponent occupied, a "look" to assess the next move, and a slick slip to create the angle for a devastating rear-hand hook.

Combo 80: The Duran

Stance: Orthodox

Inspired by Roberto Duran's mastery of the inside. We use "Head Control" (stiff jab/post) to measure the distance and manipulate the opponent's posture before unloading a relentless barrage of uppercuts and hooks to both the body and head.

Combo Sequence:

  • Right Uppercut

  • Low Left Hook

  • Left Hook

  • Right Hook

Combo 81: The 123 Loop

Stance: Southpaw

The bread and butter of the Southpaw arsenal: the Jab-Cross-Lead Hook. Looping this builds the necessary rotation for the lead hook (the 3) while ensuring the straight shots remain long and snappy.

Combo 82: The Benavidez

Combo 83: 1 2 Slip 2 Slip 2

Stance: Southpaw

A classic counter-punching rhythm for lefties. You fire the 1-2, slip the incoming return, and reset the cross. Repeating the slip-cross sequence trains you to stay in the pocket and continue attacking while staying defensively responsible.

  • Cross

Combo 84: Block Block 432 Block Block 323

Stance: Orthodox

This is a high-level guard-drilling exercise. You absorb a 1-2 on the blocks and return fire from the rear side, then reset and repeat the process starting from the lead side. It’s about building a fortress-like guard and an immediate response.

Closing Thoughts

This project began as a 365-day commitment to creating a free, dependable resource for boxing enthusiasts worldwide.
