Combos Of The Week: Week 14 Virtual Padwork Online Boxing Series

Welcome to the fourteenth instalment of Combos Of The Week. This series is a complete recap of the Virtual Padwork library I built in 2023.

If you are looking for a structured way to learn about online boxing, this series will serve as a reference guide. Instead of hunting through a social media feed, you can find the technical sequences right here, grouped by week, to study in your own time.

Combo 92: The Zarate

Stance: Orthodox

Inspired by the clinical precision of Carlos Zarate. This sequence uses a measured jab and intentional pauses ("looks") to observe the opponent's guard before transitioning from a straight cross into a heavy double-hook attack on the lead side.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Look

  • Cross

  • Look

  • Left Hook

  • Low Left Hook

Combo 93: The 1232 Loop

Stance: Southpaw

A high-volume rhythm drill for southpaws. By looping the Jab-Cross-Hook-Cross, you develop the stamina and muscle memory to keep the hands moving in a continuous flow, ensuring your opponent is constantly overwhelmed by straight shots and lead hooks.

Combo 94: The Barrera

Combo Sequence:

Combo 95: 123 Roll 34 Roll Roll

Stance: Southpaw

This is a defensive movement masterclass for the southpaw stance. It teaches you to stay low and active, rolling after your initial flurry and again after your counter-hooks to ensure you are never in the same place twice.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Right Hook

  • Roll Right

  • Right Hook

  • Left Hook

  • Roll Left

  • Roll Right

Combo 96: 123 Roll 32 Slip Low4 4

Stance: Orthodox

A complex offensive-defensive sequence. This drill works on "rolling into the hook" and slipping to set up a devastating rear-hand body-to-head hook combination. It’s about being technically responsible while maintaining a high work rate.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Left Hook

  • Roll Left

  • Left Hook

Combo 97: 1 6 Pull 2 Roll

Stance: Southpaw

This sequence utilizes the "Pull" (lean back) to evade a counter-jab after your own lead uppercut. By pulling and immediately returning with the cross followed by a roll, you practice a "safety-first" counter-punching style.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Left Uppercut

  • Lean Back

  • Cross

  • Roll Left

Combo 98: 12 Step 23 Step 3232

Stance: Orthodox

A footwork-heavy drill that focuses on lateral movement. By stepping right after the 1-2 and stepping left after the 2-3, you learn how to cut angles on your opponent, finishing with a high-volume four-punch flurry from a dominant position.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Step Right
