Combos Of The Week: Week 22 Virtual Padwork Online Boxing Series

Welcome to the twenty-second instalment of Combos Of The Week. This series is a complete recap of the Virtual Padwork library I built in 2023.

If you are looking for a structured way to learn about online boxing, this series will serve as a reference guide. Instead of hunting through a social media feed, you can find the technical sequences right here, grouped by week, to study in your own time.

Combo 148: The Liston

Stance: Orthodox

Inspired by Sonny Liston’s heavy, methodical pressure. This sequence uses a double jab to set the range before executing a pivot on the first cross to change the angle. It finishes with a relentless alternating barrage of hooks and crosses.

Combo 149: The Manny

Stance: Southpaw

Inspired by Manny Pacquiao’s explosive entries. This drill uses the high guard and a slip to the power side to evade the opponent's jab, followed immediately by "Head Control" to stiff-arm the opponent and create the perfect opening for a finishing straight left.

Combo Sequence:

  • High Guard

  • Slip Left

  • Head Control (Jab)

  • Cross

Combo 150: Catch Block Roll 232

Stance: Orthodox

A milestone drill focusing on high-level defensive transitions. You catch the jab, block the hook, and roll under the return before firing a classic 2-3-2 counter. It is a perfect example of staying calm under fire to find your opening.

Combo Sequence:

  • Right Catch

  • Left Block

  • Roll Right

  • Cross

  • Left Hook

  • Cross

Combo 151: 12 Slip 2 Block Block

Stance: Southpaw

This sequence trains the southpaw to stay defensively responsible after a power exchange. After firing the 1-2-Slip-2, you immediately bring the hands back to a tight guard to absorb any desperate return fire from the opponent.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Slip Left

  • Cross

  • Left Block

  • Right Block

Combo 152: 12 Check Hook 2

Stance: Orthodox

A masterclass in pivoting away from pressure. After the initial 1-2, you use the "Check Hook" (simultaneous hook and pivot) to let a charging opponent fly past you, before planting your feet to fire a final cross into their exposed side.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Check Hook

  • Cross

Combo 153: 1 Low2 32

Stance: Southpaw

A simplified, high-efficiency level change. By targeting the solar plexus with the low cross, you naturally pull the opponent's elbows down, leaving the chin unprotected for the following lead hook and cross.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Low Cross

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

Combo 154: The GGG

Stance: Orthodox

Inspired by Gennady Golovkin’s psychological pressure. This sequence uses repetitive twitch-feints to freeze the opponent and draw out a defensive reaction, followed by a crunching rear uppercut and a signature low lead hook to the body.

Combo Sequence:

  • Feint (Jab)

  • Feint (Jab)

  • Right Uppercut

  • Low Left Hook
