Combos Of The Week: Week 29 Virtual Padwork Online Boxing Series

Welcome to the twenty-ninth instalment of Combos Of The Week. This series is a complete recap of the Virtual Padwork library I built in 2023.

If you are looking for a structured way to learn about online boxing, this series will serve as a reference guide. Instead of hunting through a social media feed, you can find the technical sequences right here, grouped by week, to study in your own time.

Combo 197: 16 Slip Slip Roll 63 Slip Slip Roll

Stance: Southpaw

A masterclass in defensive fluidity. This sequence forces you to keep your head moving between every offensive burst. For the southpaw, the 1-6 (Jab, Rear Uppercut) is followed by a defensive cycle, leading into a 6-3 (Rear Uppercut, Lead Hook) and a final escape roll.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Left Uppercut

  • Slip Left

  • Slip Right

  • Roll Left

  • Left Uppercut

  • Right Hook

  • Slip Right

  • Slip Left

  • Roll Right

Combo 198: 12 Block 3 Block 3

Stance: Orthodox

This drill focuses on the "Block and Fire" mechanic on the lead side. After a 1-2, you catch an incoming hook on your left block and immediately fire it back. Repeating the block-and-hook builds the specific muscle memory needed to win lead-hook trades.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Left Block

  • Left Hook

  • Left Block

  • Left Hook

Combo 199: 3 Step 3 Slip Slip 2

Stance: Southpaw

This drill uses a step back to measure the opponent, followed by double slips to evade their lunge before punishing them with a straight cross.

Combo Sequence:

  • Right Hook

  • Step Back

  • Right Hook

  • Slip Right

  • Slip Left

  • Cross

Combo 200: 532 Slip Slip 532

Stance: Orthodox

The orthodox variation of the high-volume lead counter. You target the body with a 5 (low hook/uppercut) before going upstairs with a 3-2. The double slip in the middle keeps your head off the center line before you repeat the cycle.

Combo Sequence:

  • Low Hook / Uppercut

  • Left Hook

  • Cross

  • Slip Right

  • Slip Left

  • Low Hook / Uppercut

  • Left Hook

  • Cross

Combo 201: Jab Block 32 Slip 632

Stance: Southpaw

A high-level counter sequence. You use your lead block to absorb a hook and return fire with a 3-2. The addition of a slip into a 6-3-2 (Rear Uppercut entry) teaches you to follow up with a further counter combination.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Right Block

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

  • Slip Left

  • Left Uppercut

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

Combo 202: The Louis

Stance: Orthodox

Inspired by Joe Louis' "Brown Bomber" efficiency. This sequence uses two feint jabs to set-up the opponent for a counter, creating a clear lane for a devastating overhand right or power hook.

Combo Sequence:

  • Feint Jab

  • Right Catch

  • Feint Jab

  • Right Hook / Overhand

Combo 203: The Gervonta

Stance: Southpaw

Inspired by "Tank" Davis. This sequence is about deception and explosiveness. You use feints and a low jab to make the opponent look down, step back to draw them in, and then explode forward with a "leaping" lead hook.

Combo Sequence:

  • Feint Jab

  • Low Jab

  • Step Back

  • Crouch (Look)

  • Right Hook (Leap)

Closing Thoughts

This project began as a 365-day commitment to creating a free, dependable resource for boxing enthusiasts worldwide. By stripping away spoken instruction and focusing on the raw mechanics of the combinations, these sequences are designed to be a universal language. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced boxer, these archives stand as a testament to the discipline of the craft—a library of inspiration that remains accessible to anyone with a passion for boxing.
