Combos Of The Week: Week 37 Virtual Padwork Online Boxing Series

Welcome to the thirty-seventh instalment of Combos Of The Week. This series is a complete recap of the Virtual Padwork library I built in 2023.

If you are looking for a structured way to learn about online boxing, this series will serve as a reference guide. Instead of hunting through a social media feed, you can find the technical sequences right here, grouped by week, to study in your own time.

Combo 253: 12123 Reverse

Stance: Southpaw

This drill builds "muscle memory symmetry." For the southpaw, it starts with a high-volume straight flurry (1-2-1-2) capped with a lead hook. You then immediately reverse the order, starting with the lead hooks and working back through the straight shots to reset your stance.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Right Hook

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Jab

Combo 254: The Hopkins

Stance: Orthodox

Inspired by the defensive mastery of Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins. This drill focuses on the "double slip" to the right. The first slip evades the jab; the second slip evades the cross while simultaneously stepping inside the opponent's guard to land a devastating rear uppercut.

Combo Sequence:

  • Slip Right (Outside the Jab)

  • Slip Right (Inside the Cross, Step in)

  • Right Uppercut

Combo 255: 125 Slip 5 216 Slip 6

Stance: Southpaw

A highly technical uppercut-entry drill. It teaches the southpaw to lead with the right uppercut (the 5) and the left uppercut (the 6) by using slips to load the power. It requires a high level of coordination to alternate between lead and rear-hand focused attacks.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Right Uppercut

  • Slip Right

  • Right Uppercut

  • Cross

  • Jab

  • Left Uppercut

  • Slip Left

  • Left Uppercut

Combo 256: The Leonard

Stance: Orthodox

Inspired by "Sugar" Ray Leonard’s showmanship and explosive flurries. After a feint to freeze the opponent, you fire a rapid uppercut-hook combo. A brief "look" mimics Leonard's strategic assessment before finishing with a final heavy hook-cross.

Combo Sequence:

  • Feint (Jab)

  • Right Uppercut

  • Left Hook

  • Look

  • Right Hook

  • Left Hook

Combo 257: 12 Step 623 Step 3

Stance: Southpaw

A "push and pull" distance drill. After a 1-2 entry, you step back to pull the opponent forward into a rear uppercut-cross-hook counter. You then aggressively step back in with a final lead hook to "claim" the center of the ring.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Cross

  • Step Back

  • Left Uppercut

  • Cross

  • Right Hook

  • Step Forward

  • Right Hook

Combo 258: The Froch

Stance: Orthodox

Inspired by Carl "The Cobra" Froch’s heavy, lunging power. This is a simple but effective trap. You use a low feint to make the opponent guard their body, then explode upward with a wide lead hook and a powerful straight cross.

Combo Sequence:

  • Low Feint (Jab)

  • Left Hook

  • Cross

Combo 259: 1324 Roll Roll

Stance: Southpaw

This sequence focuses on the four primary power shots (Jab, Lead Hook, Cross, Rear Hook). It is a pure power-flow drill that concludes with double rolls to ensure the southpaw stays active and elusive after the flurry.

Combo Sequence:

  • Jab

  • Right Hook

  • Cross

  • Left Hook

  • Roll Left

  • Roll Right

Closing Thoughts

This project began as a 365-day commitment to creating a free, dependable resource for boxing enthusiasts worldwide. By stripping away spoken instruction and focusing on the raw mechanics of the combinations, these sequences are designed to be a universal language. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced boxer, these archives stand as a testament to the discipline of the craft—a library of inspiration that remains accessible to anyone with a passion for boxing.
